As Sabahans, we know for sure that our pink sunset has managed to wow and capture the hearts of many people.

If you want to feel sand in your toes while watching the sun sets, Tanjung Aru Beach is the spot. Known by everyone in Kota Kinabalu as one of the best beaches. You can even see some of the islands from the beach!

2. Sunset Bar, Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa

If you happen to stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru during your visit here, make good use of your stay by heading over to the popular Sunset Bar there. It has one of the best views and you can wind down your evening with a drink and some snacks while waiting for the sun to set.

3. Kota Kinabalu Waterfront

Heaven for those who enjoy the night scene. KK Waterfront is a stretch of bars and clubs and restaurants. Start having a drink in one of the bars during happy hour and watch the sun start to set while sipping on your favorite beer.

4. Signal Hill Observatory Tower

Also known as Bukit Bendera, the observatory tower provides a panoramic view of the city as well as the beautiful sunset. You can drive to the top of the hill to get there or if you’re feeling outdoorsy, you can take a hike up to the observatory tower.

In this resort, you have a few options to choose from when it comes to catching the sunset. Sutera Harbour Resort consists of two hotels in its huge property. You can enjoy the sunset at either one of the property’s beach bar- Breeze Beach Club at The Pacific Sutera Hotel or Al Fresco at The Magellan. Both bars offer a spectacular view of the beach and of course the sunset as well.

If you’re feeling luxurious and planning on a really nice and romantic trip with your significant other, Sutera Harbour Resort also offers a sunset cruise where you can cruise along the coastline watching the islands and the breathtaking sunset. You will be provided with drinks and refreshments during your romantic cruise.

6. Peak of Bukit Padang

For those who want to work hard for the reward aka hiking up to the peak to be rewarded with a significant view of the sunset, try hiking Bukit Padang! The hike up the hill is made worthwhile when you get to the peak and witness the beautiful sunset, it’s going to make your hike so memorable!

We’re definitely proud to have one of the most amazing sunsets ever. What makes the sunset in Kota Kinabalu so unique is it is pinkish red and we have so many landmarks such as mountains, beaches, and islands to appreciate it. Share with us your favorite spots to watch the sunset in KK!
