It’s been a long week at work, you’ve been looking forward to the weekend to wind down and relax. Your friends are already making plans for the weekend, that definitely involves spending some moolah. Your heart says YAS but your bank account says NO. What do you do?
You listen to your bank account and compromise.
There are many other ways to spend a good weekend without a hefty price tag.
Your friends want to have a fancy brunch with mimosas.

Don’t go to brunch, let the brunch come to you. Invite your friends over to your place in the morning and you can all cook brunch together! It’s a lot cheaper and a great way to bond with your girlfriends. Everyone just chips in some money to get the ingredients and lend a helping hand with the prepping.
Brunch menus usually consist of cheap ingredients that you might already have in your own kitchen.
Don’t know what to make? Go here for some ideas and simple recipes!
For drinks, you don’t always have to go for alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is always more expensive and it is not healthy for your liver, AND your bank account. Coffee, tea, and juice are great options too! Here are some great juice recipes to serve together with your brunch.
Watch movies
The newest blockbuster movie is out and everyone is talking about it. You don’t want to feel FOMO and want to be able to engage in conversations when your friends are talking about it. We get it. New movies are always more expensive and prices are higher when you watch them on the weekends. You definitely want to watch but you are on a tight budget. Watch them on weekdays instead! A lot of movie theaters have special promos and discounts on weekdays, so just wait a few more days and enjoy the discount privileges. Not forgetting, the popcorn and drinks are a lot more expensive in cinemas.
In the meantime, what can you do? Invite your friends over or go over to theirs for a movie night! There are tons of good and rather new movies on Netflix or iflix. Binge watch together a TV series or watch horror movies together, all in the comfort of your own home.
Get out and get going!

Go to a nearby park for a stroll or for a jog. Sometimes a walk in the park with fresh air and admiring the beauty of nature can help clear your mind. If you’ve had a stressed week, take the time to relax and have some me time.
You know what else is great? Do charity work! You can visit the local orphanage, old folks home, or animal shelter. It’s time to give back to society. Trust me, you’ll feel good and grateful for helping out. There’s just something about helping the ones in need.

On the other hand, mother nature also needs our helping hand. You can also sign up as a volunteer to help with cleaning up the beach. The marine life is in danger because of our own doing. The amount of plastic waste being thrown into the ocean is harming the marine life such as the turtles, whales, dolphins and many more. They could really use a little help from us so why not spend one of your weekends helping out?
Spend time with your parents
Haven’t seen your old folks in weeks? Why not drop by and surprise them for the weekend and spend some quality time with them. Help them out with house chores, catch up with them, share with them what you’ve been doing, or simply just sit and watch TV with them if they’re not so chatty. Help your mom in the kitchen with the cooking or cleaning, help your dad with some fixing ups in the household or simply just help them with technology (teach them how to post pictures on Facebook, use Facetime, etc). Keeping a close bond with your family is always heart-warming and fills the empty spot in your heart.
Your parents’ day will be made and they’ll be so happy and proud of you.
