We’re coming to the end of the year 2018 and a new year is rolling in. How is your 2018 New Year’s resolution so far? Have you successfully checked off any of the resolutions on your list? If you have, that’s really awesome!

Well, if you have checked off most of your 2018 Resolutions, it’s probably time to start listing down your 2019 New Year’s Resolution now. It definitely is not too early to start on a Resolution List if you are already writing down a Christmas wishlist.

If you need ideas on kickstarting your Resolution List, we are excited to help you with some ideas to start off.

Learn about other countries and its culture

In other words, TRAVEL, TRAVEL, TRAVEL! The best way to widen your horizon and to get exposed to the different cultures of the world is to experience it yourself. You don’t have to go on a Europe trip or to anywhere expensive to be traveling, you can actually just go on a local road trip with your friends and family. And who says traveling to a foreign country is costly? With so many booking engines existing, you can get great deals if you book your flights and hotels in advance or in a bundled package.

If you want to start with somewhere that isn’t too far but yet isn’t too close, have you tried visiting the Borneo? Have you seen an orangutan in your entire life? Or have you heard of the Proboscis monkeys? Or simply just want to discover more about the native ethnicities of East Malaysia?

You can now easily book for a trip there with Beelik, where you get to check out the recommended hotels in Borneo and also get them booked conveniently.

Step out of your boundaries

Have you always been afraid to do something? Are you afraid of heights? Afraid of the deep sea? Maybe in 2019, you can overcome your fears and step out of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to do one scary thing that never in your life would you have thought you would do.

Are you afraid of public speaking? Or perhaps you just feel you are not good at something? It is difficult to overcome these doubts but if you give yourself a little push and a challenge, you will be surprised at what you can actually do. You’d maybe discover a hidden talent inside of you that has always been suppressed!

What about physical fear or challenges? You can try diving the deep ocean if you have always been curious about the underwater creatures. This is the time for you to overcome your fear of the deep ocean and appreciate the beauty of the sea creatures swimming with you.

UnsplashOr maybe just get a sense of accomplishment by conquering the highest mountain in Malaysia. You don’t need professional training to climb Mount Kinabalu because all you need is the courage and spirit to climb this majestic mountain. And let me tell you one thing, not only do you earn bragging rights to show off to your peers, but you also get to indulge in the beautiful view and breathe in the fresh, crisp mountain air. It is life-changing and you might be thinking of climbing it all over again.

Be more organized and neat

If you are a hoarder or a clutter person, it’s time to get it together. You’re a full-grown adult so leave your teenage messy days behind. When your work area and living space is clean and tidy, it actually affects your mood and productivity. It isn’t difficult to actually get your space all cleaned up and tidy. All you need to do is do a deep cleaning once in a while and just maintain the cleanliness daily.

Decluttering is also a start to clean up messy and unorganized space. Here’s how you can be a master of decluttering. There are things you never needed but are just taking up all the space in your room or house. Minimalism is the key when it comes to organized space.

Also, you may not notice that your mattress and couch that you use every day could be contaminated with bacteria and dust. You can’t see these with your naked eye but they are there. Imagine the harm it brings to your health inhaling these germs in long term. Consider getting your mattress, couches, rugs, carpet cleaned and even just general deep cleaning once in a while will make you feel fresh.

Healthier You

Don’t just clean what’s on the outside, sometimes you need to detox your inner body as well. If you’ve been eating too many fast foods, greasy foods, or just not been putting in healthy stuff in your body, it is time you take good care of your body.

Unsplash

You might say that you are still young or YOLO, but think about it, if you don’t start now, when then? When you’re sick and it’s too late? As the saying goes, “You are what you eat” and if you just keep consuming all these unhealthy foods, what makes you?

Are you taking supplements like vitamins and minerals? Are you working out enough to get your sweat on and blood pumping? Getting your body checked annually to make sure you are free of any sickness or diseases?

If you answered mostly no, then 2019 should be the year you start paying extra attention to your body and inner health. Having a healthy body really changes your everything- you feel energized, you feel positive, and most importantly you feel good about yourself!

Grow a better society

Now that you feel good about yourself and have all the positive vibes in you, you can spread this good energy to what’s around you. You can start by being nice to the people around you. It does not cost you any money to just be kind.

Unsplash

I always remind myself to mind my Ps and Qs and to always generously say these three things- Thank you, Please, and Sorry. It’s not that difficult to thank someone who held the door for you, to end your sentence with “please” when asking for a favor, or just a “sorry” when you accidentally bumped someone on the shoulder. Also, you don’t know how contagious a smile is, almost as contagious as yawning. When you smile at someone, it makes that person feel nice and when they smile back at you, you too feel nice.

Sometimes, a smile can make someone’s day so much better. Start adapting this habit, it’s so simple. For instance, when you’re at a restaurant and the server is taking your order, look at them in the eye when you place your order and add in the word “please” as you order. When the server comes back with your food, thank them with a genuine smile. It’s not that difficult to spread good and positive energy, you may not know what a bad day the server had gone through, but with your kind act, you just could have brightened it up a little.

Be a superhero

You don’t need to wear a cape or have superpowers to be one. Be a superhero to our planet earth. If you have not noticed, a lot of establishments are banning plastic straws and the usage of single-use plastic. By now you already know how harmful plastic items are to our environment especially to the sea creatures.

Hop on the bandwagon and play your role as a responsible earth resident. You can start with a simple gesture of refusing plastic straws or plastic containers. If you must use a straw, consider alternative sources such as bamboo straws or metal straws. There’s also paper straws but those are also single-use items and you’re somewhat killing trees to make paper straws. You can also bring your own tumbler or food container when you need to buy take-out food or drinks. You can also bring your own shopping bag when you go grocery shopping too.

Unsplash

A little goes a long way. Start doing this and set an example to people around you. Be a responsible member of the planet we’re living in and your future generation will get to enjoy and experience the beauty of mother nature.

Remember, setting a New Year’s Resolution doesn’t have to be difficult. It also does not mean you can give it up and forget it after the year has ended. It’s a way for you to develop healthy and good habits that can affect you and your life. Also, don’t forget to be thankful and grateful for what you have achieved in the past year as well.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? Have you successfully achieved your 2018 resolutions yet? Share with us!
