If you love croissants, you probably already know the existence of Tiong Bahru Bakery. It is no stranger for fellow Singaporeans when it comes to this bakery place.
With its aesthetically pleasing looking food and drinks, topped with their signature color of green, Tiong Bahru Bakery has always been a very Instagram-worthy place.
With outlets all around Singapore at Orchard Road, Raffles City, Tiong Bahru, and Holland Village, they have recently opened their fifth outlet at Dempsey!
On the 16th of November, Tiong Bahru Bakery opened its very unique fifth outlet and what makes it so unique? It’s a Safari-themed cafe! Fun fact: This new location was once a nutmeg plantation, hence from the outside, it looks like a plant nursery. There are lots of greeneries surrounding the cafe, which definitely matched the signature green of Tiong Bahru Bakery.
So why safari-themed? Cynthia Chua, the owner, and founder of Tiong Bahru Bakery visited Botswana for a trip and instantly felt inspired to set up a safari themed cafe back home here in Singapore. And we are lucky to have this first safari themed cafe because of her!
Though it is a little warm, it feels okay once you are seated under the tent and there are air-conditioners indoors as well. The heat kind of gives you the real experience of a safari. Do not underestimate the size of this canvas tent, this little safari cafe can seat up to about 50 people.
The food served is no different than all the other Tiong Bahru Bakery, however, they do serve special beverages made of edible plants that are harvested from its own garden. These edible plants such as blue pea, turmeric and beetroot have natural coloring so it resulted in producing colorful non-caffeinated lattes. We tried the blue pea latte and it is naturally sweet and reminded us of a kueh, but we can’t put our finger on it.
The interior is really fascinating and a lot of natural sunlight comes through which makes the place really bright on its own. One more fun and adorable detail of this safari-themed cafe is that they play nature sounds in their restroom, which makes you feel like you really are in a safari or a jungle. Don’t freak out if you hear an elephant trumpeting while you do your business, it’s all just for the fun of it.
Come on by and be the first amongst your friends to visit this cute and interesting Tiong Bahru Bakery.
